China you say??

So here's the news. Dan is leaving to go back to NYC at the end of this month. We didn't find part time jobs. We failed! Not to worry. I still have a contract that starts in January and am planning to see that through. Lot's of Tokyo time still left for Nate. Ah you say, but what about the next two months!? What will you do, how will you survive??? This is where it all gets interesting. I made a few calls to my buddies in various locations all over the world. My boy Ariel in South Korea, my friend Paris, in China, to weigh my options. You never know. An American roomate for the month might lift some spirits! My homie Paris came through in the clutch. He hooked me up with a home-stay in Shanghai no problem. He even thought it very likely that I could find work for the two months I'm there, teaching. So, the ticket--a little pricey, was still better than staying in Tokyo the next two months by myself and spending every dime I have...I leave for Shanghai the 31st...The adventure continues..

Tokyo Game Show

Woa. Tokyo Game Show was crazy. Every video game lovers dream. For me it was a strange experience. Dan was a giddy little kid on the other hand..

I remember walking home from the roosevelt station on 74th street (Jackson Heights) and thinking how I haven't written anything in such a long time. I remember thinking how much more writing I had done when I went away to school. How much easier it is for me to think when I'm outside of New York. Then I leave, and all I want to do is write about the city. All I want to do is remember everything I saw and did and all the people I know.
I was walking through Chinatown on one of my last nights in New York. A neighborhood I love. Grit and grime was plastered to the walls.  I could hear the secrets on the top floors, and imagined the rooftops crawling with stories from people I'll never know.  I glanced to a series of gates. Splashed on four consecutive store fronts were tags from LEWY an NYC graff veteran.
I'm not religious. You know I don't care much for karma. Live your life and make your own decisions. Tokyo, ominous as it is, welcomed me wholeheartedly this week. I glanced to my left on the crowded streets of Shinjuku and LEWY my trusty chinatown friend, was staring right at me. He didn't want to chat much however. "Keep walking - I'll be here for a while" he said. "Enjoy."

Frame Tokyo

A few more for the calendar shoot.
:)

Imagine you are walking near the time warner building at 59th street. It's crowded but you can deal with it. Then out of no where men and women in business suits and street clothes alike riding bikes start swerving in and out of the people on the street. You can ride your bike on the sidewalk in Tokyo which is terrifying.  So far it is the only thing I HATE about Tokyo.
